Top Music Festivals To Look Out For In 2014
If 2013 was anything to go by, 2014’s music festival calendar will be packed to the brim with sunshine, superb performances, epic star lit nights, world class headliners and some exciting new musical discoveries.
With tonnes of fantastic options to pick from, it can be hard to choose exactly where to pitch your POD, so we’ve put together our top picks far and wide for the Summer ahead. Aside from the fantastic selection on offer in the UK, including Latitude, Reading and Leeds Festival, it is also worth noting the overseas delights on offer in Europe and the USA. We’ve selected the cream of the crop to help with those tough decisions – or just go to all of them!
Glastonbury, June 25th-29th
The original tented city, Glastonbury is always the highlight of the festival calendar each year it is scheduled. The largest music and performing arts festival in the entire world, it is a must do for many people’s bucket lists before they die. The line up is still top secret at the moment, but it is guaranteed to include the world’s finest musicians of all genres, as it always does.
Benicassim, 17th-20th July
2014 is this Spanish festival’s 20th anniversary, so fans should expect something extra special this year. However, it will be hard to beat last year’s headliners Arctic Moneys, Queens of the Stone Age and Beady Eye.
Reading and Leeds, 22nd-24th August
These twin festivals have always presented the biggest talent in alternative music, and 2014 will be no different. With so many comebacks in the last few years, legenedary American punk rockers Blink 182 have followed suit and are headlining the main stage. Other acts already announced include Jake Bugg and Disclosure, with many more yet to be revealed.
Latitude Festival, 17th-20th July
This festival is so much more than a musical exhibition, featuring big names in cabaret, comedy, film and literature too. Over 400 acts are expected to be announced in 2014’s line up, including Two Door Cinema Club and Haim.
Coachella, April
Coachella Valley music and arts festival, which takes place in California, is probably the biggest musical event in the USA. Unfortunately both weekends in 2014 are already sold out, but we couldn’t miss it off our top list! As always they have huge names spreading all genres including Ellie Goulding, Arcade Fire, Outkast and Calvin Harris; get your tickets early to be sure not to miss out next year.
